Exercising with rowing machines will strengthen your back and core and also get your cardiovascular system pumping. Working out with rowing machines is also a fantastic way for individuals with weak backs to decrease the risk of pulling any muscles and help improve your posture.

Here is what you should do. Adjust the weight to something you can do without bad posture. Be aware that the heavier weight you use will make the overall stroke much more difficult for you. For beginners, you should use a low starting weight. Sit comfortably on your rowing machine seat, holding on to the handles with both hands. The seat itself is equipped to move back and forth, so holding on to the handles will help prevent you from falling or slipping while you get seated.

Hold the handles firmly in your hands. Make sure that the cord that connects to the handles to the weights is not tangled. If it is untangle them or you can end up snapping the line or injuring yourself. Make sure your feet are placed firmly on the platform. The platform is positioned at an angle away from your body. Keep your feet shoulder width apart.

Now slide all the way forward, so that your butt is close to your feet. Use your shoulders, legs, and back to pull the weight back along the track. Do so in a steady motion. Straighten your back to a position so that is is at a right angle to to the floor.

Move your body back toward your starting position again in a smooth motion. Repeat this motion for the number of reps you are working towards. If you're just starting out, it is not recommended to do more than 20 reps in one set.
