For years, fitness trainers have been using Impulse heart rate monitors
to get 100% out of their training. With todays technology, Impluse has designed many heart rate monitors starting under $50.
Using an Impulse heart rate monitor is simple. Impulse designed a digital display on their watch that lets you know what your current heart rate is during exercise. Ideally you want to exercise with your heart rate in your target zone for at least 20 minutes to get the most our of our workout. Your target heart rate zone is between 65% and 85% of your maximum heart rate.
To calculate your maximum heart rate, start by subtracting your age from 220. From here lets use a 37 year old as an example. The maximum heart rate would be 220-37 = 183. Now lets multiply 183 x 65%. This number is 119 beats per minute. This is the minimum of where you want to get your heart rate during exercise. The maximum heart rate during exercise on this example would be 183 x 85% or 156 beats per minute.
Why use an
Impulse Heart Rate Monitor:
Impulse heart rate monitors will figure all this out for you. In fact many of these watches beep when you are below - or over - your target heart range.
The main advantage to using an Impulse heart rate monitor is that you are measuring the effort and calories burned in which you are exerting during your workout wheter it be cycling, running, or walking. Many times we believe that we are working much harder then what we actually are. Once you know what your target heart rate is for exercise, you can either increase or decrease your exertion for optimal fitness and body weight loss.
