Establish your target heart rate and monitor your target heart rate during your exercise. It is not dificult to figure at what your target heart rate shopuld be. Subtract your age from 220. Say 200. Multiply that number (200) by 0.6 and 0.9. Exercise within that target range.

Warm up with no incline on your Horizon treadmill for approximately five minutes by walking a slow pace. This will help warm up your muscles and prevent any injuries. Increase the pace and speed for approximately ten minutes while brisk walking before adding an incline to your routine.

Increase the incline of your Horizon treadmill by 1%. Before choosing to raise the incline any higher, work up to maintaining the same speed and pace that you would on a level treadmill.

It is important to maintain an upright position on your Horizon treadmill even after increasing the incline on your treadmill. Alternate 5 minutes of incline with 5 minutes of decline to get the best workout. Before ending your exercise you should cool down for at least 5 minutes by leveling your Horizon treadmill back down and adjust the speed to your warm up speed.

It is important too stretch your muscles after you cool down. This is important because it will help you maintain with your range of motion and any joint issues.
